2 Drawer File
Cabinet
A 2 drawer file cabinet is one of the most
basic pieces of office furniture. This is most likely the
cabinet type you would want to get if you have a small office
or if you have very few documents to file. A filing cabinet
with just two drawers can fit snugly underneath your
workstation or can even function as a printer or fax machine
holder beside your desk.
These days though, even something as basic
as a two drawer cabinet can be difficult to pick. There are
just so many brands and models to choose from. Aside from
traditional metal, filing cabinets can now also come in wood,
plastic and engineered materials. Some have wheels while others
are fixed. Some are vertical types while others are lateral
types. If you want to make the right choice, it’s best for you
to know some of your possible options.
Home Office Two Drawer File by Hirsh
Industries
The product name says it all. This is a
steel filing cabinet best used for light home office filing.
Its two 18” deep drawers can accommodate letter size documents.
Drawer sides are high enough so you don’t have to bother with
folder frames. Both drawers also run on nylon rollers for
smooth, silent movement. The best part about this affordable
$80 model is that no assembly is required except for the
screwing of the drawer pulls. One possible downside to the
model is that it may not be suitable for storing highly
confidential documents. It only has one plain lock at the
bottom.
HONH412PP Two Drawer Vertical
File
This 2 drawer file cabinet from Hon is the
model for you if you want something more heavy duty. This $124
solid steel cabinet has 22” deep drawers that can hold letter
or legal size documents. Drawers have high sides, double tied
full cradle suspension and nylon rollers for convenience,
durability and ease of use. A single lock conveniently secures
both drawers. There are no serious complaints with this product
except perhaps for its extremely traditional look featuring the
usual label holder and thumb latch.
2 Drawer Mobile File Cabinet by
Nexera
Wood is one material that can always enhance
the atmosphere in your office. This is why Nexera’s mobile
cabinet in natural maple finish is well worth the price at
$154. Although made of engineered wood, it feels and looks much
like hardwood units. Its laminated surface ensures optimum
protection for the entire unit. Its drawers run on metal glides
and can store both letter and legal size documents. Its top
feature is its casters which allow easy mobility for users. You
never have to struggle if you want to reorganize your office
furniture. Its casters however are not hidden which may be a
design concern for some users. This unit is often best used
only for light filing.
It’s almost impossible not to need a 2
drawer file cabinet in your personal office. Even if you aren’t
formally employed, you would most likely need a basic filing
cabinet to organize your personal documents.
